"Operation Barbarossa"
Belarus.
Brest Fortress.
Commander
Commander Kizhevatov,
Akimov.
நான் சொல்கிறேன் - Steven Spielberg இன் Saving Private Ryan (1998) படத்திற்கு சற்றும் குறையாத, நான் பார்த்த போர் திரைப்படங்களிலேயே One of the BEST என்ற சொல்லக்கூடிய அதியற்புத திரைப்படம் - Fortress of War (2010). Alexander Kott.
Belarus இன் Fortress of War (2010) படத்தை கண்
Epic War Movie.

*****************************************
Operation Barbarossa - Code name for German Nazi's invasion of Soviet
Union began on 22 June 1941 starting from the invasion of Brest City in
Belorussia (now Republic of Belarus). The story follows the incredible bravery
of the people of 'The Brest Fortress' narrated in 15 year old boy's
perspective. Built during the 19th Century Russians, Brest Fortress is 1.8 KM
in length with 4 entries, 500 rooms which can occupy 12,000 soldiers. Belarus
which was initially a part of USSR was taken over by Poland which was again
taken over by the Germans at the beginning of WW2. After the namesake
German-Soviet non-agression pact on 1939, part of Belarus went again to Soviet
Union which was again captured by the Nazis during this June 1941 battle.
15 year old Sasha Akimov is a trumpeter in the Music Bank of the 333rd
Rifle Regiment of the Soviet Red Army. His girlfriend's dad, Commander Andrey
Kizhevatov lives with his family in the fortress. Meanwhile another Commander
Yefim Fomin is trying hard to bring his family to the Fort. Another Senior
Commander Gavrilov who has seen 2 wars already strongly believes the Germans
will attack anytime and the Fort will fall due to Arms shortage and poor
communication with the Capital.
21 June 1941 everything is calm
and the residents of Brest Fortress, the army men and their families are
enjoying the Saturday having fun and watching movies. That night a large group
of German soldiers dressed in Soviet Army uniforms get down in trains and enter
Brest City. 22 June 1941 @ 3.58 AM to everyone's shock and surprise the German
Nazi's artillery attacks the Fortress with full power killing many Soldiers and
Civilians. The German infantry then enters the fort and starts killing
everyone. The families escape to the secret dungeons and the army is gathered
here and there in groups and start fighting defence.
Commander Andrey Kizhevatov rescues a group of civilians and defends
with his men at one end of the Fort. Commander Fomin defends a bridge entry to
the port named Kholm Gate with his soldiers. Commander Gavrilov and his men
defend the Eastern areas on the barracks. 15 year Old Sasha Akimov is the link
between these three groups as he travels from one to another carrying
information and searching for his missing girlfriend in the Caos.

| Dir. Alexander Kott |
Directed by Alexander Kott, 'Fortress
of War (2010)' is easily one of the BEST war movies that I have seen so far in
par with Steven Spielberg's Saving Private Ryan (1998). This mega production
from Belarus with Russian help is comparitively a lesser know Epic War movie
which is a shame.
Based on actual events and characters this heroic event of
Russians defending their Fort desereves much more than what it has till date.
Cinematography, Art Direction, Acting, Music, Editing and Everything is top
notch making it a Contemporary Epic.
War movies are my favorites. But sadly many gems from different
countries are lesser known to the World Audience. www.warmovieblog.com is a
wonderful site for fellow-war movie lovers. This guy introduces each and every
war movie that releases in this planet and so this site is a treasure.
Fortress of War is a classic, my all time favorite and a must watch
movie.
Hit Like & Share. Recommend this page to your friends. Happy movie
watching :)
